FAQ

What version of the Bible do you use?
All the material I memorize is from The Holy Bible, English Standard Version®, copyright © 2001 by Crossway Bibles, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers. ESV Text Edition: 2007.
How much will it cost to have you speak for our group?
Nothing!  I want to come and share God’s Word with you, regardless of whether or not you have anything to offer me.  If you live outside of the state of Minnesota, I would ask that you help cover the travel costs, but other than that, I do not have any fee.
What size group will you come and share for?
Any!  Though I love sharing God’s Word with large crowds, there is nothing like sharing a book of the Bible in an intimate living room setting with a handful of people who love God’s Word.  I have spoken in front of thousands at places like the University of Northwestern: St. Paul, for dozens of churches in the Twin Cities and Grand Rapids, MN areas, for camps and in many living rooms with only a few people in them. Whatever the size of your group, I will come and share with you.
Where are you located and how far will you travel?
I currently live near Grand Rapids, MN but frequently travel to the Twin Cities area.  If you help cover the travel costs, I will travel to your location, wherever that may be.  If you are in the state of Minnesota, I can easily get to wherever you are.
What books/parts of the Bible do you have memorized?
II Corinthians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, I Timothy, II Timothy, Hebrews, James, I Peter, I John, the passion narrative from Matthew, and selections from Acts.
Will you memorize new content for our group?
Yes.  If you have a book of the Bible that you would like to have recited that is not on my list, I can take the time to memorize it and present it to your group.  I generally need at least a month to learn a book, though in special circumstances it could be done in shorter order.
What does a presentation look like?
Check out the video page.
What does a presentation consist of?
The bulk of all of my presentations are simply reciting a book of the Bible from my heart.  I often preface my presentations with an overview of the book, to help give people an understanding of some of the background and purpose of the book.  I also like to talk about the story of Josiah and how a life can be changed when a willing heart encounters God’s Word.  But whatever the needs of your group, and whatever you are comfortable with, a
presentation can be created to meet those needs.
Do you use costumes in your presentations?
I do not.  My presentations are not a reenactment or a dramatization of the text, but a simple recitation of the text, as if I were the author sharing the content of the book for the first time.  Though costumes can be fun, they often distract people from the content of the Word.
How long does it take to recite a book of the Bible?
Usually about 15 minutes.  Most of the epistles such as Philippians, I John, and I Peter take around fifteen minutes though Ephesians takes about twenty.  The two longer books I have memorized so far, II Corinthians and Hebrews, take about forty minutes each to recite.
Are you a 501c3 organization?
Not yet.  I am in the process of making that happen, but as of right now, Josiah’s Gift not a 501c3 organization.  If you are wanting to support the ministry tax deductibly, contact me for information on how to do that.
What do other people think about Josiah’s Gift?
Check out our testimonial page.
How long have you been doing this?
I have been giving public recitations of books of the Bible since 2007.
